Taking the Gospel to a poverty striken nation...

What an amazing night! I was blown away by God's goodness! The dinner fundraiser tonight was fantastic!

God has been really moving in my life regarding Haiti Missions and supporting Dustin and Annelise. I feel like I have so much and live in a country where we are so financially wealthy. Then there are people living in third world places that do not have their basic needs met. How is that possible?

Tonight was a reminder of how good God is. So many friends rose up to the occasion to come and support the mission work in Haiti. I was blown away by everyone's generosity and kindness. God has given me some amazing friends that support my passion for missions.

After all food costs were paid we raised : $1,850!

God is awesome! And may these funds help those people in Haiti who need Jesus. Though we do not know them personally we can make a difference in bringing them the Gospel!

Thanks again to everyone that came out tonight!

Blessings!

You are invited to come and enjoy dinner, music and friends while supporting an awesome cause!

Hope for Haiti fund raising dinner will provide funds to support the mission work that Dustin Veneman and his wife-to-be Annelies are doing in the region of Pasque de Bois, Haiti. The hurricane brought much destruction to the country. Water and food supply has been low and children have been suffering from malnutrition. Dustin and Annelies are working in the village clinic providing health care to the people suffering from various illnesses ranging from malnutrition to tuberculosis. They are also educating the people on disease prevention and sustainable agriculture. Deforestation is increasing which is leading to poor soil quality and therefore making farming impossible. This is all done while
demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ and teaching the Gospel. May all things be done for the glory of God!

What's the Point?

Some of you may be asking how the HaitiTrip Dinner idea was started and what the purpose is. Well, here is the short answer: my good friend Dustin and his future wife do amazing things there. Anneliese is a nurse who in a remote Haitian village means that she acts more in place of a doctor: performs surgeries (with a headlamp), treats TB, malnutrition and anything else that may come up. Dustin is a jack of all trades. He helps build hospitals, repairs water lines, sets up solar panels, surveys land, etc. But most importantly the greatest thing that they do there is show Christ's love to others. They build relationships with the people and pour their lives into them by meeting their basic needs and sharing the Gospel.

I have seen so many clips on television of floods, hurricaines and earthquakes in foreign lands. It breaks my heart to see that there are people who do not have their basic needs met when I have so much. Then it hit me... My close friends are serving God in one of the world's poorest countries and I am doing nothing to help. I would love to be there but I can't. But I can do something that is just as important. I can support them with my prayers and with my finances. I can help equip them so that they can give to others.

And in the giving, may people see that just as Dustin and Anneliese provide them with free gifts of food and care, Jesus also came to give a free gift-the gift of salvation. You see, I can't reach through the television and give my supper to a child in need but I can support missions through giving. And how blessed I am to have friends who are in that place. We each serve in different ways and how amazing it is when it is all orchestrated!

Please support my friends by praying for them and all they do!

and also HaitiTrip dinner is May 9th. And T Shirts are still available!

Blessings!

March 17th Haititrip Dinner Update

Well the HaitiTrip dinner planning in underway. I met with Amy and Alex - my "planning committee" last week to discuss the details of the evening. My roommate is preparing the menu and has been doing trial runs of the different dessert options (I love that part!) Seems like everything is coming together very smoothly; donations for the silent auction, live music, etc. I think it will be a great evening! We are planning to have the dinner in Turlock since the people that live there will be away and they have a lovely backyard-thanks guys for being so generous! I picked up the Haiti T Shirts from the printer today. They look good! Let me know if you would like to buy one ($15.00). I will continue to post updates on the progress!
